Pre-Release of the next version of Whiist

Andrew Grant has released a pre-release version of Whiist. Whiist is a an Add-In that allows you to create and manage websites on your server. Once installed Whiist adds a new ”Website Management” option to your WHS Console where you can create new websites and links for your family in a few simple steps.

Andrew states that “Because this version features a lot of changes I’m going to wait a few days until I’m sure there are no obvious bugs lurking before I update the main page. I’m pretty sure this version is already good to go, but Whiist now has a lot of users so I figure I should be a little cautious before unleashing anything too drastic” therefore this pre-release version.

The main addition is the ability to create private websites that are only accessible to users of your Home Server. From the property page of a website you can now use the new security tab to set the site to private and then select which users from your Windows Home Server are allowed access. When visiting the site users will be prompted for a password and must enter their Windows Home Server username/password before being allowed access.
