Upgrade to RTM Properly!

For those of you wishing to upgrade from the Release Candidate to the final RTM version of Windows Home Server Tom Ziegmann in the WHS Forums has the following advice for you:

To upgrade from Windows Home Server Release Candidate (RC) to Windows Home Server RTM, you must boot from the RTM DVD, and select Server Reinstallation as the setup option. This will upgrade your server, and you should not have any data loss.

Do not attempt to upgrade from RC to RTM from within Windows itself. It will not upgrade properly, so only upgrade by booting off of the DVD, and selecting the Server reinstallation option.

  2. I have been told from those who have a copy of the RTM version that yes the upgrade does work okay.
