Now that we have Windows Home server a short time away from being available shrink wrapped, I thought that a brief history of our beloved home server would be in order.
- 1999 First thought paper written about a home server product by Charlie Kindel.
- February 2004 Quattro Project begins.
- April 2005 Product group formed.
- January 2007 Microsoft previews Windows Home Server at CES 2007.
- February 2007 Beta 2 begins.
- April 2007 CTP (Community Technology Preview) test build released.
- April 2007 Software development kit (SDK) available.
- May 2007 Windows Home Server demonstrated at WinHEC 2007.
- June 2007 Release Candidate (RC) goes live.
- July 2007 Product Released To Manufacturing (RTM).
- August 2007 Officially available.
