Just ordered this.
Can it be converted over to a full, licensed version before the 120 day trial runs out? It would suck to get a system all setup with 100’s of gigs of data on it and no way to just put in a legit serial and keep the install.
I want to try it out and if I like it I can go and buy it. But would like to know if that serial will convert the trial install to full legit.
I checked this out too, you can insert the bought version into your dvd drive and then you can upgrade your WHS trial to a official version.

How to order the FREE Windows Home Server 120 day Evaluation Edition in the Chinese Language version?
Why is Microsoft offering the French, German, Spanish, and English language versions, but no Windows Home Server Chinese language versions in regards to the FREE 120 day trial? It just doesn’t seem fair!
That’s in addition to paying 260RMB (about USD $34) just to get the FREE trail of the English version for us Chinese people!!!
Wouldn’t it make more sense to just offer the FREE 120 day trial as a FREE download with the Chinese language version for the Chinese?
@Zhang,
You’ll right, for some unknown reason, Microsoft has decided to charge the Chinese people whom obviously would prefer to get the free trial in their own native language rather than the English language.
In fact, only China has this policy, where all the Chinese people get the English only available version for the FREE trial of Windows Home Server.
When I say that totally sucks, just think how many English people would be happy about paying $34 dollars to get a FREE trail of WHS, in the Chinese language, right?
But wait, WHS is available in the Chinese language just as PP1 for that matter. So what’s going on here?
Why is Microsoft NOT offering the Chinese Simplified and the Chinese Traditional language editions of the Windows Home Server 120-Day Evaluation Kit with Free Shipping to the Chinese people?
Especially, since Philip had reported, “Great news for those in Asia, yesterday the Windows Home Server Team signed of the Japanese language build and the 3 Chinese language builds* of Windows Home Server.”
This sends the wrong message to the People’s Republic of China, where 1.3 billion individuals are wrongfully unfair treatment here…
Microsoft should offer the Windows Home Server 120-Day Evaluation Kit in the Chinese languages for the Chinese people, with Free Shipping, just as has been doing for all the other countries offered.
Respectfully,
秀秀
Obviously, Microsoft doesn’t want the Chinese to be offered Windows Home Server like every other listed country made available. Charging the Chinese $34 dollars (260RMB) for trial software that expires in a foreign language is some big joke for the Chinese people!
I’m sure, the Chinese will remember this, seeing how Microsoft gives away it’s 120 Day FREE shipping of WHS to everyone else but, China here.
It really doesn’t matter anyhow, as China already has the pirate version of WHS, just like Russia, which didn’t even get the offer at all.
Is it any wonder why both these two countries must end up pirating software, even the FREE trial versions?
How can FREE trail software be made into pirate software? Unless your Microsoft who just charges $34 dollars to get their FREE trial software…
Does the free 120-Day Evaluation Kit of Windows Home Server has the Power Pack 1 update, or is this the RTM version?
For some reason, nobody has asked this question.
What’s the build number of this edition so as to know if it’s with PP1 or not?
I’m in Beijing, just chatwith MS online service, it’s sucks, the guy even doesn’t know where I could buy a Chinese version WHS, MS Beijing office sucks too, they even barely know what’s WHS!
