Vail in a NAS Box
Microsoft Small Business Specialists MPECS Inc. have installed Windows Home Server Vail on an Intel SS4200-EHW NAS box.
Using an Intel Celeron 420 CPU, a 2GB Kingston ram stick and a 500GB Seagate ES.2 drive from their spare parts bin – It’s amazing what you can put into a NAS box!

You know that the Fujitsu-Siemens SCALEO Home Server and the Lurz Data.Com ScaleStor both are based on the Intel SS4200-EHW? http://www.intel.com/products/server/storage-systems/ss4200-ehw/ss4200-ehw-overview.htm?iid=prod_storage_home+body_ss4200-ehw
Philip,
The process is not complete yet as the driver search is on to get things settled in.
Folks out there have dropped an E4xxx series CPU into these units with some success and I think that will be the next step as the Celeron is greatly under powered for Vail.
Thanks for the referral.
