Should I Use WHS2011?

As someone who was disappointed with MS for the DE removal, I can safely say after using #whs 2011 RTM, the benefits outweigh the negatives.
Give WHS2011 a try, and with three Drive Extender (DE) add-ins in the pipeline you will not be disappointed!

I have also been using WHS 2011 RTM on an HP Proliant Microserver and love it.
Remote access stands out as a HUGE improvement!
1 niggle = The Proliant Microserver doesn’t sleep so no power saving with Lights-Out for me 🙁
Tony, did you do all the stuff in Appendix C of the LightsOut manual? And it still won’t sleep?
Yes, unfortunately after much Googling, it appears the HP BIOS just doesn’t support Sleep, only hibernate. And LightsOut will hibernate the server fine but is unable to wake it again.
A small problem I think!
Yes well, after checking my WHS2011 dashboard last night, my iMac backup is showing unsuccessful despite not having a backup setup, and one of my Windows 7 laptops is saying it’s not been backed up for over a week, checking the laptop and it’s unable to connect to the server despite being able to ping/browse shares/access web interface.
My WHSv1 never had any issues at all with backups 🙁
Wouldn’t it be easier to make a list of the drives that don’t work with WHS v1?
With the exception of use as a system drive… I haven’t actually seen a 2TB drive that doesn’t work with WHS….. and it just doesn’t make sense to use ANY 2TB drive for the system drive as its pretty much wasted space.
WHS 2011 just works.

Microsqish is not ready for prime time. Trying to sleep XP Pro and Win7 systems with WHS 2011 just does not work. Its an advanced case of dueling tubas.
