Free 60GB SSD with Viridian Server’s
ViridianPC have announced that all HomeServ and OfficeStor systems now come with a 60GB SSD system drive as a no cost option.
The HomeServ range come pre-installed with Windows Home Server 2011 whilst the OfficeStor range come with Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials.

Is 60GB enough for WHS 2011? Including all the future updates that will be downloaded for WHS 2011?
How about reliability of SSD vs. HDD? Equivalent? Wouldn’t having an SSD only matter for quick boot-up time and shut-downs? I’d think there’d be little disk activity on the system drive during normal operations – true?
FWIW, I tried ordering a WHS 2011 server from Viridian, but their website won’t allow for U.S. customers to place an order. The order process requires you to pick the U.S. state you live in, but there are no state values in the dropdown list from which to choose. I emailed Viridian about the problem. Since you can’t complete an order without choosing a state, but there are no states from which to choose, you can’t place an order with Viridian if you’re U.S.-based. Too bad….
