Reader Mike Johnson kindly sent us his Windows Home Server parts list with some pics. Mike’s rig now has 3TB of storage, totaling 2.73 TB of formatted space which he has built into a COOLER MASTER Centurion 590 case.

Not a bad build. That thing can hold 8 drives out-of-the-box (without expansion cards). Not to mention it has an upgrade path that can hold 15 internal drives (using the drive cages), all for around $600!
Comparing that to the HP system which can only hold a maximum of 4 internal drives before it has to move on to USB (woo?), it is an easy decision to want to build something just like that for a home-storage enthusiast.
