Add-In: Transfer-Manager 0.5.410 Beta

Transfer-Manager is an add-in for WHS2011 which enables you to make your Home Server the central transfer station for all your up and download needs.

The add-in is currently in beta and a new build is released every Sunday with new bug fixes and new functions.

Build 0.5.410 from the 8th May adds the following new features:

  • New: Filehoster filesonic.com (Download)
  • New: File Option (Download: all Files,only new Files) explanation follows in the Guide

Add-In: My Movies for Windows Home Server 2.00 Pre Release 5

My Movies for Windows Media Center and it’s associated My Movies Collection Management service have both been updated to version 4.

With My Movies you can manage your movie collection and browse and watch by genre and rating and with the WHS add-in you can automatically copy and index your movies or CDs onto Home Server or even index your existing collection with meta-data.

My Movies for Windows Home Server 2011 2.00 Pre Release 5

For WHS v1 users you will need to use the released version 1.6.1.3 or 1.6.1.5 (Pre Release) of My Movies for Windows Home Server, whilst WHS2011 users can use version 2.00 Pre Release 5 which was released today.

A Users Migration Process from v1 to WHS 2011

Richard Hay from WindowsObserver.com decided to try WHS 2011 on his home network

Richard’s files:

…are stored on the server’s 1.5TB internal drive (J: drive) are mirrored on the second internal 1.5TB hard drive plus the J: drive is backed up once each day to the external 1TB hard drive.  So that data is also located on three different hard drives as well.  Each directory of files on the J: drive also have Shadow Copy turned on so if any file is changed the system keeps track of the previous version which can be restored if necessary so that is even another level of protection.

Seagate has the First 3.5in 1TB Single platter Hard Drive

Seagate are claiming to have the first 3.5in 1TB single platter hard drives.

This technology will first appear in Seagate’s GoFlex Desk external drives over the next few weeks with their Barracuda range of desktop hard drives following with 3TBs of storage on 3 disk platters as well as 2TB, 1.5TB and 1TB models.

Add-In: Snoop-De-Dupe 1.00

A new add-in by the name of Snoop-de-dupe was released today for WHS v1 users.

Snoop-de-dupe watches your server in real-time and notifies you when duplicate files appear on the server. You then have the option to either delete the duplicate, create a hard-link to save HDD space (available in WHS/SBS 2011 only), or to ignore/keep, directly from the Home Server Console.
