DVBLink Version 3.0 beta 2

The software which enables you to add tuner cards to Windows Home Server has a new beta.

Here is what’s new and fixed in Version 3.0 beta 2:

All source products:

  • Made DVBLink special streams optional
  • Fixed hang-up of DVBLink server when stopping the service
  • Added channels numbers to EPG Sources tab of DVBLink Server configuration

Network Pack:

  • Implemented radio channels playback
  • Implemented playback of DVBLink special streams
  • Added new user interface for DVBLink web server
  • Implemented 4 quality/bandwidth profiles – mobile, low, medium and high quality
  • Fixed a lot of issues with not able to connect/not able to start playback of DVBLink channels via web browser
  • Implemented http connection to DVBLink web server (it is used by default now!). It is still possible to use https by selecting appropriate setting in NetPack configuration dialog.
  • Fixed pixelation on HD channels, introduced in 3.0 beta1

TwonkyMedia Server 5.1.5

Version 5.1.5 of TwonkyMedia server for Windows Home Server is available for download

The HP StorageWorks X300 Data Vault

HP have announced the HP StorageWorks X300 Data Vault.

HP X300

Following on from its big brother with the X500 range, the X300 comes in at under $600 for the 1TB capacity model and is powered by the Intel Atom Dual Core processor running at 1.6 GHz.

The HP StorageWorks X310 1TB Data Vault will be shipping from HP from the 9th June at $549 (shipping and tax not included).

Its great to see Home Server being targeted more towards the small business owner as well as to end users.

HomeServerSync Pricing Revealed

Tranquil PC have announced pricing details for their personal cloud storage service, "HomeServerSync".

The HomeServerSync suite (or HSS) will cost £139 an annum including VAT (Ex VAT = £118.30), and includes:

  • 10x client licences for Secure Synchronisation from/to Home Server unit (local or remote)
  • 10x client licences to access WHS functions – console/backups/shares (remote)
  • 1x  WHS console application licence (management/sync/backup control)
  • 1x  100GB off site backup facility
  • 1x  User web portal for access/control

Additional blocks of 100GB (off site backup) are available @ £59.00 (incl VAT) / annum, whilst the cost for initial bulk upload / download (1TB max) are £49.00 (incl VAT) / transaction.

Add-In: Cloudberry Backup for Windows Home Server 1.5

CloudBerry Online Backup for WHS

Cloudberry Backup for Windows Home Server has had an update. Version 1.5 has usability enhancements, bug fixes and introduces:

  1. "Simple Mode" which allows you to create a data structure on your Amazon S3 storage that completely mirrors the data structure on your local disk. There are no wired folders and you can access your data with other Amazon S3 client such as S3 Fox, S3Hub (Mac), CloudBerry Explorer freeware
  2. Reduced Redundancy Storage (RRS) enables users to store data in S3 at a 33% discount to the standard pricing in return for a reduced level of durability.  Newer version of CloudBerry Backup allows users to take advantage of RSS by specifying appropriate settings.
  3. Asia Pacific region has been recently added to the list of AWS supported regions allowing businesses with customers based in Asia leverage AWS’s cloud infrastructure. With new release of CloudBerry Backup users can back up their data to the data center located in Asia Pacific region.

CloudBerry Backup for Windows Home Server is an add-in that leverages Amazon S3 storage. It comes with onetime fee of $29.99 (US) per copy.
