The audience for this document is anyone who has already developed addins for Windows Home Server or who is just starting to get ramped up on the new “Vail” SDK. Level of coding expertise needed to follow the document is very low to none…

You can download the 11 page document from here. (WHS Connect registration required)

Introducing the Vail SDK

Dileep, the Development Lead on the Windows Home Server team introduces the WHS Vail SDK on the engineering teams blog.

There is a lot of information to digest in Vail and SDK in particular. Hence we are taking this opportunity to do a series of blog posts to talk about the various extensibility points of Vail in a much higher level than the actual SDK documentation. The idea is to give developers an overview of the capabilities of Vail SDK along with providing guidance as to how to go about building addins the right way so that the user experience or performance is not compromised.

the INQUIRER Takes a Look at Vail

the INQUIRER has a review of Windows Home Server Vail in which reviewer Kelvyn Taylor gives his first impressions.

By concentrating on making it [Vail] a backup and media streaming platform with a highly customisable interface, it could become much more attractive to manufacturers, although everything’s relative and there are still only a handful of WHS systems on the market.
