Add-In: WebLogs 1.0.6.0

WebLogs 1.0.6.0

The WebLogs Add-In for Windows Home Server has been updated to version 1.0.6.0 with the following changes:

  • Fixed a bug that caused a crash if the user modified their log formats
  • Added hiding for Media Collector 3.0
  • Added a button to hide router tests for remote access
  • Disabled ‘Hide Local Network’ until I can get it to work

Note on 1.0.6.0: This version disables "Hide Local Network", which didn’t really work right before anyway. Previously, that button would only hide 192.168.*.* addresses. There are other valid private net addresses, like 10.*.*.* that it should have hidden and technically even then it should have been called "Hide Private Network". In a future edition it will be back, and it truly will hide the local network using the server’s IP address and netmask. I pulled it for not because I wanted to get the fix for the crash out asap as I haven’t had the time to revisit the network problem for a couple weeks.

Backup SBS to WHS

Microsoft employee "The IO Guy" has a great post on an unsupported way to back up Small Business Server (SBS) to Windows Home Server.

SBS 2008 Backup

He installed the WHS connector software onto SBS 2008, but as Home Server is not a solution to backup things like Exchange, Active Directory and SQL databases he used the built in SBS Backup utility to backup the server to disk, and then used Home Server to backup that backup. An ideal way to backup Small Business Server to Windows Home Server.

You can read the post here.
